This Privacy Policy explains how Transparent Rentals (“we,” “us,” “our”) collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use our website, Progressive Web App, or book car hire with a professional driver in Accra, Ghana. We comply with Ghana’s Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843), and apply equivalent protections for visitors from the European Union, United Kingdom, United States, and other jurisdictions.
1. Who we are
Transparent Rentals is a car hire service operated in Accra, Greater Accra Region, Ghana. We provide chauffeur-driven vehicle hire, airport transfers, and day tours. You can reach us at hello@transparentrentals.com or +233 20 094 5404.
2. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Contact details — name, phone number, email address, and country of residence when you register, book, or contact us.
- Booking details — pickup and drop-off locations, dates, times, rental type, number of passengers, flight details for airport transfers, and any special requests.
- Payment information — we do not store your full card number or CVV. Payments are processed by our payment provider, Stripe, which is PCI-DSS compliant. We receive a tokenized reference and the last four digits of your card for reconciliation.
- Account information — if you create an account, we store a hashed password and your assigned role (client or driver).
- Technical data — IP address, browser type, device information, operating system, approximate location derived from IP, pages viewed, and referring URL.
- Cookies and similar technologies — session cookies, authentication tokens, and analytics identifiers. See section 5.
3. How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Confirm, dispatch, and fulfil your booking.
- Share the minimum necessary details with your assigned driver (name, pickup location, contact number) so they can complete the trip.
- Send booking confirmations, reminders, and service updates by email, SMS, or WhatsApp.
- Process payments and issue receipts. Refund processing requires access to your original transaction details.
- Respond to enquiries, complaints, and support requests.
- Improve our website, booking flow, and service quality using aggregated analytics.
- Comply with applicable laws, tax obligations, and requests from competent authorities.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your data for automated decisions that produce legal effects.
4. Who we share information with
We share limited information with:
- Drivers — the professional driver assigned to your booking receives your name, contact number, and trip details for the duration of the trip.
- Stripe — our payment processor. Their privacy policy is available at stripe.com/privacy.
- Analytics providers — Google Analytics and the TikTok Pixel help us understand how visitors use our site. These providers receive pseudonymous usage data subject to their own privacy policies.
- Hosting and communication providers — AWS, Vercel, and messaging services (SMS and WhatsApp Business) host our infrastructure and deliver transactional messages.
- Legal authorities — where required by law, court order, or to protect our rights, property, or the safety of our drivers and customers.
We do not share your data with third parties for their own marketing.
5. Cookies and tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies for:
- Strictly necessary — authentication, booking session state, security. These cannot be disabled.
- Analytics — Google Analytics to measure traffic and behaviour; TikTok Pixel to measure the effectiveness of our TikTok campaigns.
- Preferences — remembering your language and locale.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from booking.
6. How long we keep your information
- Booking records are kept for at least six (6) years to comply with Ghanaian tax and accounting law.
- Account data is kept while your account is active.
- Marketing preferences are kept until you withdraw consent or request deletion.
- Analytics data is retained according to each provider’s default retention.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your data, subject to legal retention periods.
- Object to, or restrict, certain processing.
- Withdraw consent for marketing communications at any time.
- Port your data to another service in a machine-readable format.
- Lodge a complaint with Ghana’s Data Protection Commission, or the equivalent authority in your country.

8. Security
We protect your data with HTTPS in transit, encrypted storage at rest, access controls, and regular backups. No system is perfectly secure. If we become aware of a breach affecting your personal data, we will notify you and the relevant authorities without undue delay.
9. International transfers
Some of our service providers (payment, analytics, hosting) process data outside Ghana. Where we transfer data internationally, we rely on the standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards provided by those vendors.
10. Children
Our services are not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced on this page with an updated “last updated” date. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated policy.
